March 2010

Back in action in Paris after an incredible weekend in Dax (photos here). Have some gigs lined up, lots of composing to do for Corpus, am working on the release of a new Groanbox cd, and am cobbling together the idea of a solo album project for 2010.

February 2010

Am in residency all month with Corpus at l'Espace Périphérique in Paris, working on the music for a play entitled Rapaces (working title) directed by Fabrice Macaux about a mother (played by actress Laurence Mayor) who loses her son (played by circus artist Michaël Vesserau) in a bombing in Iraq.

Also this month my old time stringband Tincan will be doing one Parisian show and a weekend festival in Dax (near Biarritz). Click here for gig info.

December 2009-January 2010

Shows with Fredda, Les Old Timey Messengers, and Seznec Brothers...

October-November 2009

Doing some shows with Les Tincans and other great Paris based musicians, another theater project in the works, and doing some shows and preparing new recordings with Groanbox.

August-September 2009

Check out my new music blog. Doing a couple of shows in Edinburgh with my brother in mid-August, and then will be back in action on various fronts in September.

June-July 2009

On summer tour with Groanbox in the UK (with a stop in Italy) between June 17 and July 19. Tour dates here.

May 2009

Here's an mp3 I recorded quickly of tune I call "Movin to Africa".

Here's a clip of me and my bro that we put on youtube a few months ago.

Read a great review of the play I'm involved with entitled [G]rève de Fin here.

April-May 2009

Groanbox finished another swell month long tour of the UK. Am now in Paris jamming with Fiddlin' Ian McCamy and Ilan Moss, working as actor/musician for a play with director Fabrice Macaux, and preparing for the next Groanbox tour in June.

February-March 2009

After an arduous journey of rehearsals, hauling of gear, and a case of the flu culminating in an amazing show at LPR in NYC with the incredible musicians of the Metropolis Ensemble (and of course a great show at Jalopy in Brooklyn).

January 2009

Happy New Year! I'm gearing up for a big Groanbox show with the Metropolis Ensemble in NYC at Le Poisson Rouge on January 28, for which Pete Ross is making me a neat west African style gourd banjo. In other news, new Paris-based band possibly in the works with Ilan Moss and Fiddlin' Ian McCamy. I'm also acting and playing music for a play in the Val d'Oise in France to be performed in May.

November-December 2008

Heading back to the States for the holidays, backed up Daniel Cainer (Jewish Chronicles) for a few songs in a north London arts centre, and was in Paris (my new home), doing a show with Tom Bailey and Ilan Moss in the 11th.

October-November 2008

After finishing a successful tour of the UK with Groanbox Boys, I'm in London and Edinburgh this month, preparing for a few things including beginning recording of an album of new original material.

September 2008

I'm currently on tour in England until mid-October!

August 2008

Groanbox Boys recorded a new, limited release, rootsy, world-infused album inspired by our Spring UK Tour and available exclusively at our upcoming shows. Full of frenetic grooves and chilled out backbeats, the rough hewn songs should be available by the end of August. It features all the usual (guitar, banjo, accordion, harmonica) plus West African calabash (gourd), yew tree log, and other crazy percussive stylings by Paul Clifford. The next Groanbox UK tour starts at the end of August.

July 2008

Back from an intense month long tour of England and Scotland with the Groanbox Boys, and two weeks in France doing a play with my brother and my cousin Fabrice Macaux, I'm resting up a bit before heading back to the UK in August.
I received a scholarship to attend the Augusta Heritage Center for Guitar Week, so that's where I was in mid-July. It was an amazing experience! I was able to study with fingerpicking masters Pat Donohue, Mary Flower, and my pal Parrish Ellis, and jam with flatpicking phenoms Wayne Henderson and Robin Kessinger, not to mention the great old time jams that went into the wee hours of the morning and the great cajun dancing that took place all week.
Other than that the Seznec Brothers will be reuniting for a show at Andy's in Chestertown on July 19th, and a show up in Red Hook, Brooklyn at the Jalopy on August 1st.
Other than that, for the next month or so I'll be tearing around in the woods here on the farm in Annapolis, MD.

Listen to songs and find out where I'm playing next on my myspace page.

April 2008

I'm currently working on a project with Parrish Ellis of The Wiyos focusing on the arrangement of Virginia/Tidewater field recordings for fingerstyle guitar.

In May I will be on tour in the UK with The Groanbox Boys. The GBB's latest cd, "Fences Come Down" is now released and available on CDBaby and iTunes.

In June 08, my brother Yann and I will be composing and performing music and doing the sound for a new play by Fabrice Macaux, to be held on a 13th century monastery in the Val d'Oise, France. Listen to some samples of previous years' theater music here.

I am occasionally involved with lessons at The Jalopy Theatre and also give private lessons.
