Corentin "Cory" Seznec was raised in Connecticut and on a farm in
Annapolis, Maryland where his family roots are. Cory plays fingerstyle and
flatpicking guitar, clawhammer and three-finger banjo, and harmonica, picking
up many of his tricks along the way from some of the great older (but not
old!) players out there such as Neil Harpe,
Dakota Dave Hull, Simon Prager,
Mike Baytop, Andy Cohen, and Max Ochs.
Meanwhile, a multicultural household, extensive travels and musical encounters, and a passion for history
exposed Cory to sounds from around the world, helping him to develop his own distinct style that reflects his
broad interests.
Having performed at numerous venues in the US as
well as in Europe, Some of his most memorable experiences in music include performing on
Mississippi John Hurt's front porch in Mississippi and in a 13th century monastery in France.
Cory has a BA in history from Johns Hopkins University, and an MA in International History from the London School of Economics. He was recently the recipient of a Maryland State Arts Council 2007 Individual Artist's Award for Music Composition.
